It took a few days for us to get the know Genova. The AirBnB that we booked was in a good location in terms of being around the corner from the main train station and a short walk to the centre of the city, but a not so good location in terms of cleanliness and ghettoization.
It was in Genova that we both actually felt the strain of excessive travelling. Neither of us felt the urge to go an site see or explore the city too much. I also believe that it was also due to the neighbourhood where we were staying; we did not feel too keen to go out and about in the evening all that much. Also, Henrik cut his food rather deeply on the beach in Porto Venere and staying at the apartment allowed him to rest his sore foot.
We did however take a walk to the port and have a look around as well as take a ride in one of the many funicolares that rise up into the hills of this graceful city. See Youtube video of our ride on the Funicolare Zecca-Righi. And of course we found another wonderful market called Mercato Orientale along a very fancy shopping street Via XX Settembre that was of course just off Piazza De Ferrari.
