Italy

We had to take the train from Genova to Santa Margherita Ligure and then walk to Portofino. After our trek along the Cinque Terre trails the path from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portifino was a breeze. Honestly this is not a hike at all… the trail is marked by a red carpet. Really. The walk took us about an hour and we passed through a lovely little beach town called Paraggi, where I found my dream home and Henrik found a place to go swimming.
The walk and the town of Portofino is lovely, what is not so great is the tourist mark-up of food and beverages. When we arrived we went in search of somewhere to have a bit of lunch. There was a cool seaside street that had many restaurants and we even choose one and sat down, but once we had a look at the menu, Henrik became extremely uncomfortable. It was decided that to save over €50.00+ and our marriage, we left. After finding a place to grab a cheaper meal, we decided it was time to go. We headed back along the red path and stopped in Paraggi for a swim and a closer look at my dream home.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]Leaving Genova early on Saturday morning we took the train (one last trip on Trenitalia) to Milano and then the Terravision bus from the train station to the Milano-Bergamo Airport. We were joined by the daughters of our friend’s girlfriend and the four of us arrived in Hamburg later that afternoon. Then there was a three hour car ride to where the boat was being built in Greifswald.
We went aboard S/Y Sarah and immediately began working on getting her ready for her sea trials the following day. The overall performance of the boat was good but it was going to be a few more days before we were ready to leave the dock and set sail for the Kiel Canal. There was so much to be done, but we enjoyed our time in Greifswald as best we could; we were in Germany after all and we both love German beer!
