Sundays are slow days here in the south of Italy. I slept in a little and had a hot shower. After breakfast we took a walk to the waterfront and had a look at the boats. The weather was warming up and the pace was slowing down. Just going to focus on breathing today…
Finding lunch however, somewhat disturbed my calm… Lately when we have been going out to eat we wind ourselves in touristy places, english menus and standard crowd pleasing fare. Today we attempted to try and find a place a little off the path. We both felt like pizza, and thanks to Google Maps we headed to a spot close to the market that apparently locals favoured. Unfortunately, when we got there we were told (all in Italian) that it would be 30 minutes before they could make us a pizza. Ugh… The afternoon was wasting away and people were starting to head home for the afternoon siesta. I admit, I was getting a little hungry so we headed back to the main drag where we knew there would be places still open and to our mutual dismay ended up at a place that had English on the menu. Oh well, at least we tried. Not to worry, the beer was cold and the pizza was passable. We had a view of the ocean and each other so life was good. After lunch we headed home through empty streets and I decided that an afternoon nap was a really good idea. I am finding my rhythm here…breath in, breath out, repeat.
